ARU SLPs at GW Hospital provide adult patients admitted to the ARU with the full range of diagnostic and treatment modalities in the SLP’s scope of practice: Clinical Swallow Evaluation (CSE), Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS), Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), formal speech-language and cognitive assessments, speaking valve assessments, and post-op care for total laryngectomy patients. Job Summary SLPs at GW Hospital are expected to collaborate closely with the entire interdisciplinary care team, especially Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians and advanced practice providers, Rehab nurses, OTs, PTs, and case management. This collaboration includes formal, in-person team conference meetings several times per week to discuss each patient’s plan of care and progress.
