POSITION SUMMARY: The Safety & Compliance Specialist supports safe, compliant fleet operations by serving as a primary resource for driver safety and regulatory questions, monitoring and investigating driver events and incidents, and providing coaching and remedial training. This role ensures accurate documentation and adherence to FMCSA/DOT requirements, company policies, and Hours-of-Service and inspection standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Respond to driver inquiries regarding safety and compliance matters.

· Gather and accurately record detailed incident & accident information.

· Monitor driver events and conduct follow-up inquiries when events occur.

· Coordinate post-accident testing, reporting, and investigation activities as directed.

· Prepare, file, and communicate physical damage, liability, and cargo claims to the assigned insurance company or TPA, as required.

· Provide remedial training following violations or incidents.

· Provide guidance and coaching to drivers on defensive driving, HOS compliance, inspections, and company policies.

· Other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

· Working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations

· Experience with ELD systems and log auditing

· Strong documentation and record keeping skills

· Effective driver communication and coaching skills

· Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic computer skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma or equivalent required

· Minimum of one year of experience with FMCSA and DOT compliance requirements

· CDL-A driving experience preferred, or equivalent knowledge of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operations.
