Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description
This role involves working in a busy, production-oriented machine shop where you will operate threading and related machines to process long metal poles and screws. You will load and position materials, perform precision measurements, and support multiple machining stations such as thread rolling, assembly, and straightening. The position combines hands-on mechanical work, quality inspection, and general machine shop support in a loud, fast-paced warehouse environment.
Responsibilities

• Load long metal poles, typically weighing between 15 and 30 pounds, into threading machines in a safe and efficient manner.
• Operate threading and related CNC or manual machines to produce threaded components according to specifications.
• Perform thread rolling by feeding blank screws into the thread roller to form accurate and consistent thread lines.
• Inspect screws and other components to confirm they match required specifications and are correct for the application.
• Use calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to take precise measurements and verify dimensional accuracy.
• Ensure bars and poles are straight and level using shop machines, fixtures, and tools.
• Work across different areas, including thread rolling, assembly, and straightening, and adapt to moving between stations as needed.
• Assist with general machine shop helper duties, including deburring, basic machine operation, and part handling.
• Read and interpret blueprints and apply GD&T principles to understand tolerances and part requirements.
• Use hand and power tools, including drill presses, for drilling, finishing, and minor adjustments.
• Troubleshoot basic machining or equipment issues and escalate more complex problems when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members, communicate issues promptly, and support continuous improvement in the shop.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate machines safely and efficiently, including threading machines and other shop equipment.
• Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret tape measures accurately.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and moving parts.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and the ability to apply it when reading prints.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering drawings.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools, including drill presses.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for machine and process issues.
• Ability to lift and handle metal poles weighing approximately 15-30 pounds on a regular basis.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to collaborate with others.
• Self-starter mindset with a willingness to learn the trade and take initiative.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience as a machine operator in a production or manufacturing setting.

Work Environment
The role is based in a large warehouse-style machine shop with a busy, industrial atmosphere. You will work around multiple machines and equipment, with a high level of ambient noise and frequent machine operation. The work involves both sitting and standing throughout the shift, as well as regularly loading and handling long metal poles weighing 15-30 pounds. You will frequently use shop machines, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, hand tools, power tools, and drill presses to complete your tasks. The environment requires consistent attention to safety procedures, awareness of moving equipment, and comfort working in a fast-paced production setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
