It serves as a teaching hospital. The unit has 32 beds. Patient types include small bowel obstructions and general surgical procedures. Common diagnoses include nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, and urinary issues. The nursing ratio is 1:4-6, with surge times potentially being 1:7-8. Nursing staff will work with a dedicated CNA and charge nurse available 24/7. Support includes a 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist. Telemetry monitoring is conducted remotely. Registered nurses will float to other nursing units as needed. Travel nurses need to be adaptable and demonstrate clinical flexibility when floating. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Monthly scheduling cycles occur every 6 weeks. Scrub color is navy.
