The unit consists of 32 beds. The patient population includes individuals with small bowel obstructions, general surgery procedures, kidney stones, pneumothorax, bariatric surgery, and various types of fractures. The typical RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4-6, with potential surges reaching 1:7-8. Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tube placement, ostomy care, and wound care. Nursing support will be available, including a charge nurse and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage. Travel nurses may be required to float to other nursing units based on patient care needs and staffing demands. Travel nurses will be compensated for travel time if floating mid-shift. Weekend rotation and holiday work expectations will apply. Requests for time off are limited to six days, excluding holidays, and any time not taken must be added to the end of the contract. Scrub color for this position is navy.
