About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Competence in Arterial Lines Description: Provides patient care in a stepdown unit. Must be flexible, adaptable, and a team player. Good communication skills are essential. The average daily census is 24 patients with a ratio of 1:4-5. Common diagnoses include cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular issues, sepsis, adult respiratory conditions, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure. RNs are required to titrate drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, and others. Charge nurses are present on each shift and take an assignment. Nurse aides and patient care techs are available with a ratio of 1:12. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips. High flow oxygen issues may require troubleshooting by RNs. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holidays require a minimum of 2 holidays that fall within the contract timeframe. Floating to other units is required for acuity patients. Scrub color is navy blue. There are overhead lifts and portable lifts available in half the rooms. Focus is placed on patient experience scores, responsiveness, and communication about medications. The unit serves diverse cultural populations. Requested time off needs to be provided upfront. Additional requests for time off will not be approved. The facility retains the right to cancel shifts as needed within the assignment. Charting system used is EPIC. BSN is not required. Care setting is acute. Trauma level is 2.
