Role Description The Benefits Counselor role is a full-time, on-site position based in Port St Lucie, FL. The Benefits Counselor will educate employees about Colonial Life's benefit offerings, helping them understand plan options and select coverage that meets their needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting one-on-one and group benefit consultations, supporting enrollment events, and explaining policy features in clear, accessible language. The role involves responding to employee questions, assisting with claims or issue resolution, and maintaining accurate documentation of consultations and enrollments. The Benefits Counselor will collaborate with sales and account teams to ensure a smooth enrollment experience and ongoing service for employer groups. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in employee benefits and insurance, with the ability to understand and explain various coverage options. Candidates should possess strong customer service skills, including active listening, empathy, and clear communication with diverse employee populations. Candidates should possess skills in training and education, with the ability to deliver presentations and guide employees through benefit choices. Candidates should possess sales-related skills, such as consultative selling, relationship-building, and follow-through on enrollment opportunities. Relevant qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor's degree preferred), willingness to obtain applicable state insurance licensing, and proficiency with basic computer and enrollment software.
