Technical Designer / Fit Technician - Children's Apparel Location: Central New Jersey (In Person) Position Summary Established children's apparel company seeks a full-time Technical Designer / Fit Technician to join our growing team. This position will work independently under the direction of the Production Manager and collaborate closely with Production, Design, and overseas manufacturing partners to ensure accurate fit, measurements, grading, construction, and overall product quality from development through production. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of garment construction, fit evaluation, specifications, and pattern corrections, with experience in infant, baby, toddler, and children's apparel preferred. Responsibilities

• Create, review, and update measurement specifications and point-of-measure (POM) charts.
• Review graded specifications to ensure sizing consistency across all size ranges.
• Measure all incoming development, fit, pre-production, and production samples.
• Conduct, coordinate, and document fit sessions using approved fit forms and standards.
• Evaluate fit, balance, proportions, comfort, mobility, construction, and overall garment appearance.
• Identify necessary pattern, grading, measurement, and construction corrections.
• Review and evaluate samples for specification accuracy, pattern shape, workmanship, and quality.
• Maintain consistency in fit across all apparel categories.
• Communicate fit comments, measurement revisions, construction corrections, and approvals to overseas vendors in a clear and timely manner.
• Utilize technical sketches, digital photos, marked-up specifications, and detailed fit comments to communicate corrections.
• Follow up with vendors to ensure fit comments and corrections are properly executed.
• Collaborate with Design, Production, and Sourcing teams to achieve design intent while maintaining cost-effective production.
• Approve garments for production or reject samples and schedule follow-up fittings as needed.
• Maintain sample tracking logs and approval records.
• Assist in troubleshooting fit, quality, and production issues.
• Research market trends, competitor fit standards, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Product Development, or related field preferred.
• 2-5 years of Technical Design, Fit Technician, or related apparel experience preferred.
• Experience with newborn, infant, toddler, and children's apparel strongly preferred.

• Ability to independently conduct fittings and write detailed fit comments.
• Experience working with overseas factories and vendors.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple seasons, categories, and deadlines simultaneously.
