Senior Specialist, Cybersecurity Engineering

Merck seeks a Senior Specialist in Cybersecurity Engineering to design, deploy, and manage HashiCorp Vault and privileged access systems across enterprise environments. The role focuses on secrets management, CI/CD integration, and secure automation while supporting global R&D operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate HashiCorp Vault in on-premises enterprise environments
• Develop standards, patterns, and onboarding guidance for secrets management across teams
• Support Vault integrations with CI/CD platforms, deployment pipelines, and automation workflows
• Enable secure secrets injection, retrieval, rotation, and lifecycle management for build and runtime environments
• Develop automation and operational processes to improve security, efficiency, and audit readiness

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years designing, deploying, and supporting HashiCorp Vault in on-premises environments
• Deep knowledge of secrets lifecycle management, dynamic secrets, and authentication methods
• Expertise in privileged account management, password rotation, and least-privilege access
• Experience integrating security platforms with Windows, Linux, databases, cloud services, and APIs
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills

Compensation: $117,000-$184,200 base
