Library Assistant PT

PurposeThe Librarian Assistant will assist the Library Media Specialists in the day-to-day operations. The Library Assistant is responsible for performing routine clerical duties within the libraries and assisting the Librarians with locating books, stocking shelves, checking in and out books and materials, and processing new books.Essential Job FunctionsSupports the School’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee HandbookGreets students, faculty and guests of the School who visit the libraries.Responds to telephone calls, messages and emails in a timely and accurate fashion.Performs circulation desk procedures, such as checking in and checking out materials during the school day and before schoolAssists with overdue books and material notificationsShares in shelving of books in the Lower School with parent volunteers.Assists librarians with decorating the library for holidaysAssists librarians with creating posters and displays for motivational reading programs.Labels books with stickers categorizing their section and call numberAssists librarians with inventory by scanning booksAssists librarians in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.Assists students in locating library materialsSupervises students, encouraging proper library behaviorAssists in processing library materialsRepairs library materialsMaintains the libraries with supplies, etc., for usersAbility to be trained in library data entry (cataloging)Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designeeJob QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferredExperience and QualificationsWork with children is essential #J-18808-Ljbffr Pine Crest Preparatory School Inc
