Certified Nurse Midwife

Responsibilities Provide care that focuses on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, and family planning and gynecological needs of the woman. Practice under the supervision of one or more collaborating physicians. Refer patients who develop complications requiring physician care to an obstetrician. Provide uncomplicated prenatal care within the scope of the Nurse Midwife. Provide intrapartum care on patients who meet the criteria for normal delivery. Pitocin augmentation or induction under the direction and approval of the supervising physician or alternate. Use internal and external monitors. Perform active rupture of membranes without consultation only if patient is in active labor, 3 cm dilation, -1 station, and at least 80% effaced. Provide local analgesia/anesthesia including pudendal block. Consult physician when deviations from normal rise. Provide normal postpartum care. Provide normal newborn care in the delivery room and/or recovery room only. Repair superficial vaginal and perineal lacerations. Comply with all policies and procedures of OB/GYN department and all rules and policies of hospital in Labor and Delivery Nurse Midwifes. Document according to L&D policy in progress notes and L&D record. Requirements Master's Degree: Nursing (Required) C-EFM – Certified – Electronic Fetal Monitoring – National Certification Corporation (NCC) CNM – Certified Nurse Midwife – American Midwifery Certification Board RN – Registered Nurse – Ohio Board of Nursing Licensed by the State of Ohio as a registered nurse Certified by the American College of Nurse Midwifery Graduate of a college for nurse midwives that is in good standing as determined by the Board at the time of graduation. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jobtailor
