Quality Manager -Aerospace

PrideStaff - San Diego

Job Description

Job Description

Position Summary

PrideStaff is recruiting a hands-on Quality Manager for an established precision manufacturing company supporting aerospace, defense, medical device, and industrial customers.

This position has direct ownership of the company's AS9100D / ISO 9001 Quality Management System. We are seeking a quality leader who combines strong technical knowledge with initiative, accountability, continuous improvement, and the ability to turn quality requirements into consistent daily practices.

This is a highly engaged leadership position requiring regular production-floor presence, practical problem-solving, strong communication, and effective use of digital quality-management technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own, maintain, and continually improve the AS9100D / ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

  • Lead internal audits, periodic self-assessments, management reviews, and external audit preparation to maintain year-round compliance.

  • Manage CAPA, NCR, customer complaints, audit findings, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action effectiveness verification.

  • Establish clear accountability for quality deliverables through assigned owners, deadlines, follow-up, and escalation.

  • Maintain regular production-floor presence to verify that manufacturing practices align with documented procedures, inspection requirements, and customer specifications.

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving and Lean Six Sigma methodologies where appropriate.

  • Partner with engineering, production, and inspection personnel to address recurring defects and improve process capability.

  • Oversee document control, training records, calibration, supplier quality, inspection planning, and product traceability.

  • Actively use the company's electronic Quality Management System, LTCQC, to maintain records, manage compliance activities, and track corrective actions.

  • Monitor quality KPIs and communicate trends, risks, and improvement priorities to senior leadership.

  • Provide direction, coaching, and accountability to quality personnel.

  • Exercise appropriate authority over nonconforming product and shipment decisions in accordance with customer and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing quality experience, including recent, relevant responsibility for quality systems, quality engineering, or quality leadership.

  • 3+ years in a Quality Manager, Quality Systems Manager, Quality Engineering leadership, or comparable role.

  • Direct hands-on responsibility for an AS9100, ISO 9001, or comparable regulated-manufacturing Quality Management System.

  • Experience leading internal and external audits and driving findings to verified closure.

  • Demonstrated experience with CAPA, NCR, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.

  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, inspection planning, calibration, and manufacturing quality controls.

  • Experience using an electronic QMS or comparable digital quality-management tools.

  • Ability to independently identify problems, establish priorities, and drive improvements without constant management direction.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to work on-site and remain actively engaged with manufacturing operations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Black Belt certification, with demonstrated application of continuous-improvement methods in manufacturing.

  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).

  • Direct AS9100D ownership or management-representative experience.

  • Aerospace, defense, composites, or other regulated precision-manufacturing experience.

  • Demonstrated results using DMAIC, statistical process improvement, root-cause analysis, and process capability methods.
