Attorney - Litigation

Our client, a well-established and growing Houston-based law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join their trial team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-stakes, complex matters alongside accomplished trial lawyers in a collaborative, litigation-driven environment. The firm represents clients across Texas in sophisticated civil trial matters, including catastrophic personal injury, insurance coverage, oil and gas, product liability, commercial litigation. This role offers meaningful, hands-on experience in all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate is a motivated defense attorney with a strong desire to try cases, a disciplined approach to case management, and a commitment to high-quality advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of litigation from case inception through trial and resolution
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and other substantive filings
• Manage written discovery, including drafting requests and responses
• Conduct and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances
• Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys to develop case strategy
• Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues
• Prepare cases for trial and actively participate in trial proceedings
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court
• Take ownership of assignments and manage deadlines with precision and accountability

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Must have excellent academic credentials (top 25% required)
• Transcripts and writing samples will be requested for those that are selected to interview
• Licensed to practice in Texas and in good standing
• Minimum of 3+ years of civil litigation experience, with a focus on defense work
• Experience with complex discovery, motion practice, attending depositions, and mediation
• Demonstrated interest in trial work and litigation strategy
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
• Trial attendance experience in State courts is required
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Judicial clerkship experience preferred
