Responsibilities Electrode Placement Utilizes the International 10-20 Electrode Placement system to measure, mark and apply electrodes to the predetermined positions on the patient’s scalp. Routinely achieves impedance levels below 10k ohms. Routine EEGs Performs standard EEG recordings according to departmental protocols including awake and asleep, bedside, isolation, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal, etc. Utilizes the International 10-20 Electrode Placement system to measure, mark and apply electrodes to the predetermined positions on the patient’s scalp. Adapts methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations, and EEG findings. Compiles data on patient’s neurologic status and clinical history that may aid in interpretation. Completes both technical and professional bills and documents the study in the electronic log. Video EEGs Performs standard Video EEG Long Term Monitoring recording according to department protocols. Utilizes the International 10-20 Electrode Placement system as above. Maintains and replaces electrodes as needed. Collects patient information pertinent to interpretation and employs proper testing procedures. Adapts methods and instrumentation to optimize results. Compiles data on patient’s neurologic status and history for interpretation. Completes technical bills and documents the study. Evoked Potentials Performs Visual, Brainstem Auditory, and Somatosensory Evoked Potentials according to ACNS guidelines. Ensures technical quality of recordings by making necessary adjustments. Support During Seizures Provides supportive patient care and observes clinical manifestations during seizures and emergencies. Assess memory, language, and ability to follow commands during events; contacts EMS and informs physicians if needed. Customer/Peer Relations Works professionally with team members and physicians in patient care and monitoring. Builds strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues to promote teamwork. Departmental Protocols Follows all protocols and policies outlined in the Departmental Policy and Procedure Manual. Neurodiagnostic Equipment Maintains equipment in good working order, inspects for malfunctions, performs minor adjustments, cleans per manufacturer and policy guidelines. Continuing Education Participates annually in educational programs, workshops, CME, and related learning to enhance professional growth. Safety and Infection Control Practices universal precautions and follows safety and infection control policies. Disinfects and cleans equipment per guidelines. Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors. Reports risk management concerns and completes mandatory requirements. Physical Demands and Working Environment Exerts up to 50 lbs of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs to move objects. Potential exposure to hazardous substances, chemicals, equipment, and reagents. Blood-borne pathogens exposure. Contact Job potential exposure to patient blood and/or body fluids or airborne contaminants. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – Required High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or GED equivalent programs. Ability to follow verbal instructions. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft or Google productivity suites. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities – Preferred Associate’s Degree in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology or equivalent. Licenses and Certifications – Required AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) HCP Certification. Eligibility for ABRET registration. Job Duties Starting rate of pay is based on market data, experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations. Compensation benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness. Experience: Years of relevant work experience. Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications and credentials. Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies. Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the location. Internal Equity: Consistency with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization. Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and grant funding may impact pay. Additional compensation may include performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions. Certain positions may also receive shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work. Full-time and part-time (20+ hours per week) positions offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
