Direct Support Professional (Mentor) Location: Shimon and Sara Birnbaum JCC, 775 Talamini Rd, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Full Time. Monday – Friday, 8:45 AM – 4:00 PM. Responsibilities Support and enable adults with special needs (21+) to complete skills training and obtain community‑based volunteer, employment, and recreational opportunities. Assess individuals’ interests and skill sets to determine appropriate volunteer or job placements. Develop occupational goals aligned with each person’s skill level. Plan and implement trainings that build occupational, work‑habits, and social skills. Provide direct support during vocational and recreational activities, including cooking, cleaning, exercising, clerical duties, and participation in pre‑school/senior programs, swimming, music therapy, arts & crafts, and other group activities. Provide supervision at the appropriate level of functioning (1:1 to line of sight). Administer medication as needed and maintain accurate case‑note documentation. Attend monthly staff meetings and engage in continuous staff training. Benefits & Compensation Salary: $26,000 per year. Competitive rate based on education and experience. Fitness membership at the JCC. Friendly and supportive work environment. Requirements Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED; a Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Prior experience working with developmentally disabled, special needs, autism, or behaviorally challenged populations. ABA experience preferred. Empathetic, enthusiastic, flexible, open‑minded, creative, and patient. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable with hands‑on hygiene care (including toileting and showering). Valid driver’s license. Must undergo background check and drug screening. COVID‑19 vaccine or weekly testing required.
