We would love for you to become a member of our team. Job Overview The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider. Responsibilities include managing check‑in and registration, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, recording chart information, drawing and collecting blood samples, preparing treatment rooms, and more. Compensation Hourly rate: $23.00–$30.00. This position offers monthly incentive pay based on performance metrics. Education High School Diploma required Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred Work Experience Medical Assistant experience preferred Front Desk experience preferred Required Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS required at the time of hire One of the following certifications required or to be obtained within 15 months of hire: CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CMA – Certified Medical Assistant RMA – Registered Medical Assistant NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant NRCMA – Nationally Registered Medical Assistant Alternative Certifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, LPN, or RN EMT – Emergency Medical Technician CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant In California, MA’s must hold: 1) Graduate of MA school + Certified OR; 2) MA must receive additional internal training under a Physician, NP, PA, etc. Essential Functions Conduct patient registration, secure required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verify insurance and patient eligibility. Process co‑pays and schedule patient appointments for the assigned center. Coordinate provider referrals to assigned specialists. Answer patient questions regarding their care and keep them informed of status. Inform technical staff of patient flow. Prepare patients for examination, including interview, medical history, and purpose of visit confirmation. Perform preliminary physical tests for vital signs and escalates critical cases to provider as needed. Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide patient information to provider. Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area while ensuring providers have needed supplies. Maintain order sheets and supply inventory; check expiration dates on supplies. Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files. Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily incoming and outgoing correspondence. Ensure reception area is well maintained. Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up. Perform opening and closing duties, including cashing out, end‑of‑day communication, and building security. Perform operating instructions, document daily controls and calibration of equipment, maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed. All other duties as assigned. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic Medical Assistant duties. Ability to type quickly and basic computer knowledge. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Detail oriented, able to rely on experience and judgment to perform a variety of tasks, participate in a team, and accomplish goals. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
