Assistant Controller

Our client is a well-established organization seeking an experienced accounting leader to join its finance team. The Assistant Corporate Controller will play a key role in overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance activities, and process improvement initiatives. This individual will partner closely with senior leadership, manage a small team, and help drive operational excellence across the accounting function. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes. Responsibilities Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Manage general accounting activities, including maintenance of the general ledger and supporting records Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules Research, analyze, and apply accounting guidance for complex transactions Coordinate with external service providers on tax-related matters and reporting requirements Oversee accounts receivable, credit, and collections activities Ensure timely completion and review of account reconciliations Strengthen and maintain effective internal controls and accounting processes Identify, develop, and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and scalability Lead cross-functional initiatives and support organizational change management efforts Support external audits and respond to auditor requests Partner with senior leadership on financial reporting, analysis, and special projects Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members Present recommendations and solutions to improve accounting operations and reporting Analyze financial information to identify risks, trends, and opportunities Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting required Active CPA license preferred; candidates actively pursuing completion of CPA requirements may be considered Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience Public accounting, industry experience, or a combination of both preferred Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting concepts Experience managing accounting processes and financial reporting activities Experience working with external auditors and professional service providers Demonstrated success leading process improvement initiatives Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting best practices Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment Ability to meet the hybrid work schedule requirements Why You'll Love Working Here Highly visible role with exposure to senior leadership Opportunity to influence processes, controls, and strategic initiatives Collaborative and supportive team environment Strong commitment to professional development and internal advancement Stable organization with long-term growth plans Competitive compensation package with bonus opportunity Comprehensive benefits offerings Streamlined interview process and timely feedback throughout the hiring process #J-18808-Ljbffr
