Assistant Controller – Property & Casualty Insurance (REQUIRED) Location: Tampa Bay, Florida – In the heart of the Westshore Business District, just minutes from Tampa International Airport Are you a technically strong accounting leader with deep Property & Casualty insurance experience who thrives in a dynamic, highly regulated environment? We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to help drive excellence in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and accounting operations. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting the integrity of our Statutory and US GAAP reporting framework while strengthening internal controls, audit readiness, and operational performance. What You’ll Do Lead & Elevate Accounting Operations Direct daily accounting and financial reporting activities, including month-end close, balance sheet reviews, and financial statement preparation Maintain oversight of the general ledger and overall financial reporting environment Review and approve journal entries and monthly account reconciliations Drive Compliance & Strengthen Controls Support the design, documentation, and testing of internal controls Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and corporate accounting policies Oversee preparation and timely submission of quarterly and annual Statutory filings Coordinate annual Statutory and GAAP audits and serve as primary liaison to external auditors and regulators Provide Technical Accounting Leadership Research complex accounting matters and provide recommendations in accordance with Statutory accounting principles and US GAAP Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and executive management reporting Support capital adequacy assessments and respond to regulatory and rating agency inquiries Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members, including temporary staff and interns Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA strongly preferred) 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 5+ years within Property & Casualty insurance (REQUIRED) Strong expertise in Statutory accounting principles and US GAAP within an insurance environment Demonstrated leadership capability, strategic thinking, and executive-level communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven, regulated setting Why This Role Matters This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of financial reporting within a publicly traded insurance organization.
