Medical Coding Specialist

This role involves reviewing and analyzing physicians' documentation, as well as CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 diagnosis codes. The coding function ensures compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation guidelines.

Job Duties & Essential Functions

1. Perform complex and technical assignments related to medical coding.
2. Analyze, code, and abstract information to assign and enter consistent diagnoses and procedure codes for reimbursement.
3. Resolve discrepancies related to coding issues.
4. Review and correct rejected claims from various third-party carriers.
5. Handle CPMP account notifications and accounts receivable reports (IDX), and ICD-09/10 coding.
6. Maintain account records and track IDX record requests.
7. Maintain PK files for validity errors.
8. Monitor TES Open Encounter file.
9. Manage CLIA renewals for all sites.
10. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification.
• Associate's Degree, or 5 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Working knowledge of coding requirements.
• Excellent expressive and written communication skills.
• Highly organized.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
