Group Director, Pharmacy Operations

Group Director, Pharmacy Operations (7410-2293) LifePoint Health Support Center Oversee and support operational, clinical, regulatory, compliance and pharmacy initiatives for a group of LifePoint Hospital Pharmacies. Key Interactions LHSC Leadership LHSC Pharmacy support team Facility Directors of Pharmacy Corporate Quality Department Facility Clinical Coordinators/Pharmacists General Responsibilities Confer with facility directors of pharmacy to coordinate activities, identify opportunities, and develop support plans to accomplish the mission and vision of the company Educate, train and mentor new facility pharmacy directors Assist pharmacy directors with compliance with HSC defined therapeutic and operational initiatives Identify best practices and trends in pharmacy practice to assist and develop strategies to enhance operations Review and analyze reports submitted by facility Directors (including drug spend trends, appropriate use guidelines, monthly operation reports, CORE measures, and other quality and patient safety initiatives) in order to recommend adoption or suggest changes Prepare and present reports at a group and facility level concerning LifePoint Hospital Pharmacy Department activities, supply expense variances, and initiative compliance Maintain effective communications with LHSC, group and facility management Direct human resources activities, including the approval of the selection of facility pharmacy directors in conjunction with hospital administration Implement corrective action plans to solve organizational or departmental problems Ensure that automation is used in a cost effective and safe manner. Give guidance and recommendations on changes in this area as needed Serve on LHSC pharmacy support committees and give input to strategies and goals Ensure appropriate ordering, receiving and payment process with approved pharmaceutical wholesaler is in line with accepted standards and regulatory compliance Help to assure compliance with all applicable state laws regarding the practice of pharmacy Model and foster an environment of professionalism, continuous learning and clinical excellence. Ensure that team members are competent operationally, clinically and financially Assess reimbursement of pharmaceuticals across the enterprise and give guidance on improvements in this area Collaborate on new acquisitions and other activities as assigned by the LHSC pharmacy support team Assist hospitals with annual evaluation of pharmacy directors Skills Judgment and Decision Making – Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one Management of Financial Resources – Determining how money will be spent to get the work done and accounting for these expenditures Coordination – Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems Negotiation – Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times Attributes Oral Expression – The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand Oral Comprehension – The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Written Comprehension – The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing Written Expression – The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand Speech Clarity – The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you Deductive Reasoning – The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense Qualifications Education Additional residency training or certification in a specialty area encouraged Experience 5 years of pharmacy practice experience required Proven experience with antimicrobial stewardship program in a hospital setting 5 years in leadership role in a multi‑hospital system preferred Multi‑hospital‑system clinical pharmacy experience preferred Travel May travel up to 25% of time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires prolonged sitting and some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in an office environment and involves frequent contact with staff and the public.
