Maintenance Manager

Byer Steel Maintenance ManagerOverseer and support the workers who maintain and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mobile equipment as well as facility systems. Supervisor will be responsible for evaluating problematic systems or facilities and determine what installation or repair services need to be performed and work closely with the maintenance planner through completion.Principal Duties & Responsibilities:Assist in establishing priorities, goals and expectations to the maintenance planner for planning purposesOvertime as needed during the week, and weekends as neededFacilitate the morning toolbox meeting, discussing safety topicsAssigns daily work ordersWorks closely with tool crib personnel to maintain adequate inventory of tools, supplies and parts to repair all equipment in a timely mannerMaintenance shop, tool crib and all work areas are kept clean, tools are put back at the end of each day and/or completion of the jobConduct audits on fixed and mobile plant machinery weekly for any safety concerns, including missing/damaged guarding, trip hazards, non-functioning lights, anything broken, exposed wiring and housekeeping. The areas include: Commercial/Retail Recycling, Roll/Maintenance Shop, Fab Rebar, Tool Crib and Mill (Mondays)Enter planned/urgent work requests through Express MaintenanceEnter parts and/or service requisitions through Ezkinview systemPlant mobile equipment Pre-shifts are completed and turned in each week (Inventory Clerk)Proper follow-through on all maintenance issues from start to completionWork with maintenance team and other technical personnel to develop a proactive and effective team to attain set objectivesDaily walks to inspect and ensure team members are working safely, being productive and staying on taskEncouraging and promoting a safe and productive work cultureAbility to approve OvertimeGive direct reports instruction and assign work activitiesAuthority to send direct reports home during scheduled work hours; i.e., no work, insubordinate, or other reasons that deem necessaryDisciplineComplete safety incidents properly and in a timely mannerAuthorize or decline requests for time off based on company needs and workloadMaintain Time and Attendance using our Paycor software systemEnsures compliance to company safety, security standards, procedures and policiesEnsures all personnel wear and utilize all safety equipment correctly as neededQualifications & Experience:At least two years of experience as a Supervisor in an industrial environmentHigh school diploma or equivalentKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenanceStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong computer skillsExcellent organizational skills and ability to set prioritiesAbility and skills to work as a teamReliableEffective leadership skills and ability to lead a team to achieve positive resultsStrong knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulationsMust be able to pass drug and criminal background screeningPhysical Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 100 lbsMust be able to sit, bend, lift and walk on a regular basisMust be able to use computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, keypad on a regular basisMust be able to utilize telephone and two-way radioMust be able to walk and stand 95% of the dayEnvironmental Requirements:Warehouse and scrap yard environmentExposed to outdoor elements, including heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, odor and noiseExposed to large mobile equipment, internal and external trafficDirt roadsWorking Conditions:Concrete floors and drivewaysRequired common PPE, safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection and hard hatSounds, potential high noise levelsFrequent contact with othersThis job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as required.
