Registered Nurse

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Clinical Support Unit - Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Antepartum License: Current RN License required Certifications: - NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - BLS (Basic Life Support) - ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AWHONN fetal monitoring classes - STABLE Certification Must-Have: - L&D, Postpartum, and Antepartum experience - Capability to circulate in the OR preferred - Minimum of 3 years of experience - Excellent communication skills - Ability to know the chain of command and how to use resources Description: The role involves working in the Clinical Support Unit Float Pool. RNs will float within women's services including antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum. Assignments may require floating to any facility within the region. The patient-care ratio follows AWHONN guidelines of 1:6 for couplet care in postpartum. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift and on each unit. Surgical techs may be present on floors depending on shifts and units. Registered Nurses will be required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment. They will report to obstetric laborists and neonatologists available 24/7. Anesthesia staff is also available 24/7. There are no telemetry techs on the units; Registered Nurses will need to read their own strips when necessary. Shifts are scheduled for four 12-hour shifts with no self-scheduling. Travelers will use an app to know their assignments one hour before starting their shifts. Scrubs will be provided for all shifts. Communication is essential, and travelers must utilize the chain of command and advocacy. The work environment is supportive with easy access to all facilities. Cancellation policy allows for up to four cancellations per 13-week contract. Charting is done using an electronic system.
