Responsibilities
In this role the Histology Technologist will perform the following duties:
- Perform complex histological procedures to prepare tissue specimens for Pathologist examination and diagnosis.
- Receive, accession, handle, embed, cut, and stain surgical and cytological specimens.
- Perform special stains and prepare cytology specimens for microscopic evaluation.
- Identify, investigate, and escalate specimen, accessioning, or technical issues that may impact diagnosis.
- Perform and document quality control procedures and take corrective action when results fall outside established standards.
- Operate, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and organized files of specimens, tissue blocks, and slides.
- Monitor inventory and supplies and communicate reordering needs to leadership.
- Follow all laboratory safety protocols, regulatory requirements, policies, and quality standards.
- Train and provide instruction to students and staff on histology techniques, laboratory procedures, and safety.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by department leadership.

Days: Monday-Friday

Education/Training
Required: Associate's degree in Histology/Clinical Lab Science
Licensing Requirements
Required: Florida Histology Technologist license or eligible for licensure
Experience
Required: 0-1 year
