CNC Machinist

Primary Duties and Responsibilities The primary functions include, but are not limited to: Perform basic CNC machine setups, including loading programs, installing tooling, setting up and verifying fixtures, and setting tool offsets. Operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or other CNC equipment) to produce parts to specification. Load and unload raw materials and finished parts. Verify setup accuracy by running first-article parts and making necessary adjustments. Monitor machine operations and make basic process corrections as required. Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, setup sheets, and work instructions. Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure quality requirements are met. Identify and report quality issues, tooling wear, or machine malfunctions. Perform basic preventive maintenance, including cleaning and routine checks. Accurately complete production, inspection, and setup documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards. Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a machining or CNC training program, or equivalent hands-on experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience operating CNC machines. Experience in a high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment preferred. Job Skills Required Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, setup documentation, and work instructions. Understanding of tooling, offsets, and workholding fundamentals. Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and tolerances. Ability to use standard precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers and micrometers). Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels. Basic English language skills. Work is performed on the machine shop floor in a noisy environment that includes close proximity to moving mechanical parts and the operation of heavy machinery. Physical Requirements Medium Work: This role requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Most essential functions are performed while standing. Visual acuity is required for the operation of heavy machinery and the visual inspection of small parts.
