Library Assistant - Teacher - Part-Time - Missouri City Branch Library

Fort Bend County is seeking a Library Student Tutor to assist students with homework assignments and provide academic support in a variety of subjects. Responsibilities Assist students with homework assignments and provide academic support in library setting. Help students focus on learning skills, develop good homework and study habits, and use appropriate learning strategies. Demonstrate and assist students and parents with the use of the homework help database. Reinforce learning concepts evident in homework assignments. Talk with caregivers and parents about homework strategies, study skills, and general academic support. Find and/or create handouts and learning materials that reinforce learning concepts. Prepare learning environment for students, ensuring pens, pencils, paper, and other supplies are readily available. Track student attendance, parent participation; provide monthly narrative reports. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Education (current students in Education with 75% or more degree completion will be considered). One year of teaching experience preferred. Keyboarding skills and computer skills for internet and database searching. Good communication skills and ability to interact with students, staff, and the public. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift library materials up to 10 pounds. Hours & Rate Salary: $25.00 hourly. Hours: 12 hours per week, evening hours. Position duration: August42025–May282026.
