Medical Assistant II PositionThe ACTAT department at our TMC location is hiring for a Medical Assistant II position. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, providing support to both patients and medical staff. This role involves assisting with clinical tasks, managing patient records, and ensuring a high standard of care and service.Functions as a member of clinical team performing a supportive role in the delivery of patient care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.Position Key Accountabilities:Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.Effectively participates in planning and preparing for patient visits ensuring appropriate schedules, test results, and clinic specific requirements are available.Rooms patients consistent with clinic needs while determining and documenting chief complaint and reason for visit, vital signs, medication list, allergies, smoking history and other information as required by clinic. Keeps patients informed of delays and progress of clinical appointments.As required and competency validated, performs appropriate hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point of care testing, specimen collection, equipment cleaning/reprocessing and other requested procedures.Prepares and stocks rooms (daily/weekly) and clinic supplies in advance of clinic visit as well as cleaning rooms appropriately between patients.Prepares for and assists with routine and specialty procedures.Schedules patients for follow up appointments or referrals and performs routine clerical duties for team and staff to include photocopying, scanning and faxing.Performs telephone messaging and in person screening with appropriate follow up.Responds to emergency situations.Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.Performs other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA) requiredCertified Medical Assistant (CMA) by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) required orRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologist (AMT) required orCertified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required orNational Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing requiredMinimum Education:High school diploma or equivalentCompletion of an approved Medical Assistant training program OR one (1) year of experience (in addition to the one year of experience required to meet the experience requirement) AND certification may be substituted for Medical Assistant training program.Minimum Experience:One year of related experiencePhysical Requirements:Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
