Job Title College Transition Coordinator Reports To Director of Teaching and Learning Position Type Full-time Schedule 10‑month per year position at 40 hours per week (plus 20 hours in the summer) Terms of Employment Per Employment Agreement General Responsibility The College Transition Coordinator assists students with academic success and social development, promotes equity and access, and supports a nursing pathway program. Responsibilities include administration of college entry assessments, dual concurrent enrollment registration, attendance monitoring, academic interventions, and alumni support. Performance Responsibilities Establish, champion, and maintain a college‑going culture for all students and staff. Promote the institution’s educational philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures. Communicate a growth mindset for all students. Communicate verbally and in writing with the School Leadership Team regarding instruction and college access support. Monitor data related to college access and success. Establish an equitable and inclusive school climate where students lead educational practices. Create and develop positive relationships with students, teachers, and families to support college access. Engage students and parents to develop strong college‑going awareness and steps necessary for success. Provide families with information in various formats and languages about colleges and application requirements. Lead school events that encourage community connection, investment in school culture, and college awareness. Meet with students and parents to discuss academic plans and progress. Serve as a resource to parents with information sharing. Support a post‑secondary nursing pathway for all students from 9th grade, including developing and updating college plans. Interface with colleges and other educational communities to provide students with exposure to post‑secondary nursing options. Maintain professional and productive partnerships with higher education, practice partners, parents, and stakeholders. Participate in ensuring timely and accurate report cards of student grades. Refer students and families to educational opportunities as needed. Assist in the registration process for dual concurrent enrollment, including administration of college entry assessments. Facilitate student registration in dual‑concurrent enrollment courses at partner colleges and universities. Coordinate requests for cohort course offerings, singleton registrations, and material orders. Assist students in identifying additional dual concurrent enrollment courses that align with individual college plans. Develop and implement Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports for students in dual concurrent enrollment courses. Assist in the college and other extension application process, including financial aid navigation. Attend required events such as planning days, professional development days, parent‑teacher conferences, new student open houses, and graduation. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Teaching and Learning, Principal, or CEO. Qualifications Current B.C.I. Proof of U.S. citizenship, residency, or work visa. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred). State certification for secondary school counselor. 3–5 years of relevant experience (preferred). Self‑starter who is detail oriented. Meticulous attention to data collection and analysis. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience working with urban communities with multicultural families (preferred). Proficiency in Skyward, Naviance, or other student information systems. Attendance at professional learning opportunities related to high‑school counseling. Use of appropriate branding aligned with mission and vision. Current regarding changes in the profession through continued learning. Takes responsibility for behavior, mistakes, and results. Effective time and resource management. Demonstrates respect and appreciation for others. Seeks constructive feedback for self‑development. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Duties are performed in a school/classroom environment and on field trips; the noise level is usually moderate.
