Position Summary:

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and planning of materials to support production and customer demand. This role ensures timely availability of components while optimizing inventory levels and maintaining strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with engineered-to-order or high-mix, low-volume products.

Job Description:

• Develop and execute purchasing strategies to support production schedules and customer orders.
• Plan and manage material requirements using MRP/ERP systems.
• Issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and expedite materials as needed.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material readiness and resolve supply issues.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete stock.
• Analyze demand forecasts and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers; maintain strong relationships with existing vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and performance improvements.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) with sourcing and planning activities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Syteline) or similar.
• Experience in instrumentation, electronics, or industrial manufacturing.
• APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP).
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
• Experience with international sourcing and supply chain logistics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Primarily office-based with occasional walking to the production floor to support operations and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• PPE will be provided during trips to the manufacturing floor, and any other protective equipment.
• May be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 15 pounds.

No travel is required.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
