Medical Coder

Role Overview

Apply medical coding expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through accurate, high-quality review and validation of real-world medical coding data. No prior AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Annotate and review medical records, assigning accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes based on clinical documentation.
• Apply Evaluation and Management leveling in accordance with official guidelines to validate and enhance datasets.
• Use current coding reference materials to maintain alignment with applicable coding standards.
• Communicate with project stakeholders in writing and verbally to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities in clinical documentation.
• Provide detailed feedback on coding guidance and edge cases to improve workflows and AI model understanding.
• Contribute subject-matter expertise to the creation and validation of medical-code datasets used for AI training.

Qualifications

• Active AAPC Certified Professional Coder certification is required.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems, plus Evaluation and Management leveling guidelines.
• Experience working with varied types of clinical documentation and related coding challenges.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with close attention to detail.
• Access to current official ICD-10 and CPT coding books and Evaluation and Management guidelines.
• Familiarity with digital annotation tools or data-driven projects is preferred.
• A commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous learning in a changing healthcare and technology environment.

Work Terms

• Remote contract engagement.

Compensation

$55 to $68 per hour.
