Job Description

We are conducting a confidential search for a Personal Injury Attorney to join an established New York plaintiff-side personal injury firm in Manhattan.

This opportunity is designed for an attorney who already understands New York personal injury litigation and is ready to take meaningful ownership of cases, move matters forward strategically, and play a direct role in maximizing outcomes for injured clients.

\n

What Success Looks Like

\n

\n

Within the first 6 to 12 months, the person hired will be expected to:

\n

\n

Take Ownership of a Plaintiff-Side Personal Injury Caseload

\n

\n
• Manage assigned matters from initial client involvement through active litigation, maintaining clear control over deadlines, discovery, court appearances, motion practice, and overall case progression.
\n
• Success means cases move forward deliberately and important deadlines, opportunities, and litigation steps are identified before they become urgent.
\n

\n

Drive Discovery Forward Efficiently

\n

\n
• Prepare and respond to discovery demands, Bills of Particulars, and other litigation documents while working closely with paralegals and support staff to keep discovery progressing.
\n
• The attorney should be able to identify what information is required, what is outstanding, and what needs to happen next to move each case toward resolution.
\n

\n

Develop and Execute Litigation Strategy

\n

\n
• Evaluate liability, damages, available evidence, medical documentation, witness testimony, insurance considerations, and other case-value drivers.
\n
• Use that information to develop a litigation strategy that strengthens the client's position and supports the firm's goal of maximizing recovery.
\n

\n

Handle Substantive Motion Practice

\n

\n
• Research and draft substantive motions and opposition papers, including summary judgment motions involving New York Labor Law claims under §§ 240 and 241(6).
\n
• The attorney should be capable of identifying the controlling legal issues, developing a clear argument, and producing persuasive written work that can withstand scrutiny from opposing counsel and the court.
\n

Conduct and Defend Depositions

\n

\n
• Prepare for, conduct, and defend depositions involving plaintiffs, defendants, witnesses, and experts.
\n
• This includes developing an examination strategy, understanding the factual and legal issues that matter most to the case, and using testimony to strengthen the litigation position.
\n

\n

Represent Clients Effectively in Court

\n

\n
• Appear regularly for conferences, hearings, and oral arguments in New York courts.
\n
• The attorney should be prepared, organized, and capable of communicating the firm's position clearly while advancing the client's interests.
\n

\n

Maintain Control of a High-Volume Litigation Practice

\n

\n
• Manage multiple matters simultaneously without sacrificing preparation, responsiveness, or attention to detail.
\n
• Success requires disciplined calendar management, clear prioritization, and consistent follow-through across active cases.
\n

\n

Work Effectively With the Litigation Team

\n

\n
• Collaborate with paralegals, support staff, other attorneys, and firm leadership while maintaining personal accountability for assigned matters.
\n
• The goal is to create a litigation process where work moves efficiently between team members and cases continue progressing without avoidable delays.
\n

\n

The Experience That Should Prepare You for This

The firm is focused on whether your previous experience demonstrates that you can successfully handle the work required in this role.

A strong candidate will likely have:

\n

\n
• 4 to 8 years of litigation experience with a New York plaintiff-side personal injury law firm
\n
• Admission to the New York State Bar and current good standing
\n
• Experience managing plaintiff personal injury matters through active litigation
\n
• Experience with motor vehicle, premises liability, and/or New York Labor Law cases
\n
• Experience drafting Bills of Particulars, discovery responses, demands, motions, and other litigation documents
\n
• Demonstrated experience conducting and defending depositions
\n
• Courtroom experience involving conferences, hearings, and oral argument
\n
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing ability
\n
• The ability to identify litigation issues and develop case strategy independently
\n
• A consistent track record of managing deadlines and multiple active matters
\n
• Comfort using legal technology and adapting to new systems and tools
\n
• The ability to work collaboratively while maintaining ownership of assigned cases
\n
