Mechanic / Auto Body Repair Technician in Kansas City

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Auto Mechanic / Auto Body Repair Technician with automotive painting experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on experience performing vehicle diagnostics, repairs, collision restoration, bodywork, and paint refinishing. This role requires a detail‑oriented professional capable of restoring vehicles to pre‑accident condition while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic vehicle systems. Perform preventative maintenance and general automotive repairs. Inspect vehicles and identify mechanical and cosmetic damage. Complete collision repairs including panel replacement, dent repair, body filler application, and frame straightening. Weld, fabricate, and repair vehicle components as needed. Prepare vehicle surfaces for paint by sanding, grinding, masking, and priming. Mix and match automotive paint colors using manufacturer specifications. Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat finishes using spray equipment. Buff, polish, and finish painted surfaces to meet quality standards. Utilize diagnostic scanners, hand tools, power tools, and body shop equipment. Read and interpret repair orders, blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer repair procedures. Maintain a clean and safe work environment while adhering to OSHA and company safety standards. Conduct final quality inspections to ensure repairs meet customer and company expectations. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience as an Auto Mechanic, Auto Body Technician, Collision Repair Technician, or Automotive Painter. Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures. Experience with collision repair, frame repair, welding, and refinishing. Proficiency using automotive diagnostic equipment and repair tools. Ability to perform paint preparation, matching, spray painting, and finishing. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ase Certification. I-Car Certification. Automotive Painting Certification. Experience with aluminum and steel body repairs. Experience working in a dealership, collision center, fleet maintenance facility, or restoration shop.
