Assembler - Key Responsibilities & Requirements Position Summary

• Assemble electrical and mechanical components into finished products following specifications, blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
• Ensure product quality, structural integrity, and compliance with manufacturing standards.
• Work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting continuous improvement and production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble components, structures, switchboards, and panelboards according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Read and interpret:
  • Blueprints
  • Schematics
  • Manufacturing drawings
  • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Front views
  • Order entry systems
• Use hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches to complete assemblies accurately.
• Install and torque bolts and fasteners to specified requirements.
• Assemble copper bussing and verify proper spacing and alignment.
• Ensure products are level, square, and built to design specifications.
• Inspect materials and components for dents, scratches, damage, and other defects.
• Perform visual quality inspections before, during, and after assembly.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues and identify non-conforming parts.
• Identify missing components and report shortages promptly.
• Communicate production progress and escalating issues to supervisors and team leads.
• Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous experience as an Assembler in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manufacturing drawings.
• Experience using:
  • Hand tools
  • Power tools
  • Torque wrenches
• Strong understanding of assembly processes and manufacturing procedures.
• Experience assembling switchboards, panelboards, or related products.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to access CAD drawings and production information.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of GMP and manufacturing best practices.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory control processes.
• Experience reporting production progress and material shortages.
• Understanding of quality control and continuous improvement practices.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable performing repetitive assembly tasks.
• Ability to work around machinery, equipment, and production noise.
• Comfortable working in varying temperature conditions.

Work Environment

• Brand-new manufacturing facility with approximately 200-250 employees.
• Fast-paced, team-oriented production environment.
• Monday-Thursday schedule: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
• Exposure to machinery, manufacturing equipment, and operational noise.
• Required PPE:
  • Steel-toed boots
  • Safety glasses
  • Ear protection (as needed)
  • Long pants
  • Long sleeves or cut-resistant sleeves
• Strong focus on safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
