Job Description

This role involves safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to move, store, and prepare inventory within a busy warehouse environment. The forklift operator supports efficient shipping and receiving operations while maintaining accurate inventory records and adhering to all safety procedures and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials safely throughout the warehouse.

• Receive and inspect incoming shipments to verify accuracy, quality, and condition of materials.

• Unload trucks and move inventory to designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment.

• Pick orders accurately using RF scanners and prepare materials for packing and shipping.

• Pack, palletize, and stage outgoing shipments according to company standards and customer requirements.

• Use RF scanners to track inventory movements and maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory records.

• Handle shipping and receiving tasks, including labeling, documentation, and organization of materials.

• Follow all safety procedures and company policies while operating forklifts and working in the warehouse.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage of materials and equipment.

• Work collaboratively with team members to meet productivity goals and support smooth warehouse operations.

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding inventory issues, shipment discrepancies, and operational needs.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a forklift operator or material handler.

• At least 1 year of forklift operating experience, with operation within the last year.

• Valid forklift certification.

• Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse setting.

• Experience with material handling, including picking, packing, unloading, and palletizing.

• Ability to use RF scanners for picking and inventory tracking.

• Familiarity with warehouse operations, processes, and safety standards.

• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment.

• Experience in shipping and receiving functions within a warehouse.

• Comfort working with inventory management systems and handheld scanning devices.

• Demonstrated reliability and strong work ethic in warehouse or logistics roles.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse environment that supports high-volume shipping and receiving operations. You will work around forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, frequently moving and lifting heavy materials. The pace is fast, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork. The warehouse setting may involve varying temperatures, noise from equipment, and the need to follow established safety protocols and guidelines at all times.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sellersburg, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $17.25/hr.
