Job Overview Classification: Exempt Reports to: Manager of MCRT Crisis Services Type: Full-Time, 37.5/week Location: Community-Based Summary Crisis Leads perform crisis assessments and case management services for youth and families experiencing a mental health crisis as part of the MCRT program. The MCRT Crisis Lead must be available to respond to crisis calls during the designated shift, assist with dispatching, training, mentoring, and support staff through consultation. Additional tasks may be assigned by supervisor as needed to support the program. Schedule Must be available for a minimum of 3 eight‑hour shifts and up to four shifts from the following options: 12‑8 am Sunday through Saturdays 8 am‑4 pm Sundays 4 pm‑11:59 pm Sunday through Saturday The additional 13.4 hours will be in office minimally one day a week, which can include meetings, case management, walk‑ins, additional shifts, and other miscellaneous tasks as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide Mobile Crisis Response, Crisis Intervention, and Case Management under Rule 132 and other Rule 140 services, aiming for a minimum of 75 hours per month of direct service (910 hours per year). Complete crisis screening at client location, assessing risk, presenting problem, social history, self‑care habits, and family system; submit intake forms. Provide assigned case coverage, follow‑up calls, and ensure clients and families have appropriate resources; communicate with supervisor if higher‑need clients are identified; close cases as appropriate. Maintain an active caseload and deliver direct service to clients and families. Network with collaterals, facilitate referral and linkage, discharge planning with inpatient psychiatric facilities, and advocate client rights within education, legal, state, and mental health systems; coordinate services with sub‑contracted agencies. Leadership Accept crisis calls from 988 Hotline, QuadCom, and other referral sources; determine need for in‑person screening versus phone intervention. Dispatch Crisis Specialists and Engagement Specialists; respond to in‑person calls for MCRT and SASS as needed. Provide consultation to Crisis Specialists during assigned shift; additional on‑call supervisor available if needed. Support new staff through training, mentoring, shadowing opportunities, and constructive feedback. Cross‑train and remain knowledgeable to assist with SASS, Crisis Stabilization, hospital staffing, and PREA Training at the Juvenile Justice Center; may cross‑train in other FSA departments. Supervision Attend a minimum of nine monthly group supervisions per year. Discuss cases with supervisor in clinical, individual, and/or group supervision as needed. Report to supervisor regularly about problem cases, needed special services, and resources. Provide progress updates, areas of concern, and feedback on new employees. Administrative Complete and meet deadlines for all clinical paperwork, including crisis assessments within 24 hours and service notes within seven days of delivery. Maintain a higher caseload in high‑need areas. Complete agency administrative paperwork: event notes, private insurance authorizations, timesheets, expense reports, training forms, and other requested reports. Attend and actively participate in majority of staff meetings, Quarterly Clinical Meetings, Lead Clinician Meeting, program meetings, and other meetings as assigned. Participate in Utilization Review Meetings. Serve on Agency and/or Program Committees when requested. Hold a valid, unexpired Illinois driver's license. Community Education/Public Relations Represent the crisis team in community education about the Crisis Cares program. Facilitate positive networking relationships with community service providers and networks as assigned. Training Complete annual training requirements. Maintain IM‑CAT or IM + CANS certification. Maintain additional HFS‑required trainings. Complete Specialized LEAD training if needed. Complete ongoing training assigned by supervisor. Work toward Clinical licensure. Receive training on private insurance and unfunded adults. Other Duties/Special Assignments/Projects Provide one training for all crisis staff per fiscal year. Assist in developing materials and participating in special community education projects/presentations as requested. Maintain licensure and/or certification appropriate to educational/professional background. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Travel for business as needed. Participate in agency Risk Management and Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Promote collegiality by working collaboratively with others. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS This job operates in a professional office environment and in the community. The role uses standard office equipment and may require standing, walking, sitting, hand movements, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting up to 35 lbs. Work may occur in client homes, schools, public libraries, and community agencies. The work environment is mostly office‑based with varying temperatures and noise levels. POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full‑time position, 37.5 hours per week. Salary Range Salary range: $49,856 to $70,526.14 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. TRAVEL Requires moderate travel within Kane, DeKalb, and parts of Cook counties, and occasionally outside the area. Education and Experience At least a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field; LCSW or LPHA strongly preferred. One year’s post‑master’s experience in community behavioral health and crisis services required. Required Skills/Abilities Flexible, independent, and able to multi‑task effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication, including public speaking and presentations. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
