Duties

Help

• Monitor critical operations worldwide, delivering reliable and comprehensive data to support the deployment and redeployment of combat assets.
• Monitor and track movements using multiple computer-based systems. (i.e., Single Mobility System (SMS), Marine Traffic, and In-transit Visibility (ITV).
• Assist the Battle Captain in support of the Chief, SDDC Command Operation and Integration Center (COIC).
• Ensure all data received effecting daily operations is provided to the Battle Captain.
• Communicate in real time with United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), major Army commands and combatant commands as well as transportation brigades, battalions, and detachments.
• Recommend courses of action to the Battle Captain or subordinate brigades, and other appropriate staff elements during emergencies, contingencies, and operations.

• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• This is a Temporary position intended not to exceed eight 8 months.
• This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Monitoring critical operations worldwide, delivering reliable and comprehensive data to support the deployment and redeployment of combat assets.; 2) Utilizing Transportation Information Systems (i.e. Single Mobility System (SMS), Marine Traffic, and In-Transit (ITV)) to track, analyze, and manage cargo movements.; and 3) Applying Transportation Policies and Procedures to resolve conventional transportation issues, recommend courses of action, and ensure compliance with operational requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education : Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized , based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
• Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 8 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position can be converted to permanent with no further competition.
