Director, National Campaigns, Abuse of Power Location: Washington, District of Columbia, United States ABOUT THE JOB The ACLU seeks an experienced leader for the full‑time position of Director, National Campaigns, Abuse of Power in the National Political Advocacy Department. This hybrid role requires in‑office presence of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month and focuses on national legislative, administrative, and electoral campaigns to advance civil rights and civil liberties. WHAT YOU'LL DO The Director will report to the Senior Director, National Campaigns and partner with ACLU affiliates, state campaign teams, and internal departments to shape and execute the abuse‑of‑power portfolio. YOUR DAY TO DAY Chart the course for the ACLU’s abuse‑of‑power portfolio and other civil‑rights federal campaigns. Consult with State Campaigns and affiliates on state‑level campaigns that overlap with federal work. Lead a cross‑functional team to develop campaign goals, strategies, and budgets. Achieve legislative and administrative victories that advance civil rights at the national level. Prioritize work and respond to emerging developments. Build relationships with key allies and partner organizations. Leverage departmental political power for campaign interventions. Collaborate with other ACLU departments (Communications, Analytics, Legal, etc.) to craft comprehensive strategies. Maintain awareness of new opportunities and challenges. Support fundraising efforts for the department and the broader organization. Develop staff capacity and foster issue expertise. Assist in recruiting and strengthening the department. Provide subject‑matter expertise to other divisions on state/local campaigns. Represent the department internally and externally. Adapt priorities flexibly to changing external environments. Engage in leadership duties, special projects, and additional assignments as needed. Travel nationally and work non‑traditional hours as required. COMPENSATION The annual salary for this position is $229,096 (Level C2), based on geographic location. A regional pay adjustment may apply if authorized to work outside the listed location.
