Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

Summary This position serves as a Working Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible to oversee maintenance operations, including healthcare buildings, staff housing, grounds, and utility systems. This hands-on supervisory role is responsible for ensuring all facilities and infrastructure are safely, reliably, and efficiently maintained to support patient care and essential health services. Establishes work priorities within available resources, management guidance, and project requirements. Assigns work to employees and provides technical guidance on complex tasks and processes. Monitors work progress to ensure quality, productivity, and timely completion. Performs administrative supervisory functions for the work operation. Communicates and supports management policies, programs, and initiatives. Performs administrative supervisory duties by managing leave, identifying training needs, counseling employees on performance and work methods, recommending personnel and disciplinary actions, resolving employee complaints and grievances, ensuring compliance with safety and housekeeping standards, and maintaining work records and documentation. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S) : SCREEN-OUT: Do you have the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the work of a Maintenance Mechanic, as described in the vacancy announcement, without more than normal supervision? Although no specific amount of experience, education, or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Handbook X-118C for the WG-4749 series is used as a basis for qualifications. Applicants must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the elements listed in the Section 25 of the Online Occupational Questionnaire to perform the duties of the position. The job elements of a Maintenance Mechanic are listed below. Your rating will be based on your proficiency in these competencies. Physical Requirements: The work may require continual standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching above the head, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Occasionally works in awkward and cramped conditions when making repairs, work is sometime performed on ladders and /or scaffolds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside the government quarters and occasionally in inclement weather. Work is usually dirty, dusty and greasy. Incumbent may perform work where bad smelling fumes are present. Incumbent has frequent exposure to possibility of cuts, bruises, electrical shock, chemical irritations and broken bones while working around machinery and equipment. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience regardless of whether the experience as gained a part-time or full-time occupation. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position they have held. Work experience must contain dates and hours worked per week. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education There are no education requirements. Additional information You will need to set up direct deposit so we can pay you. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is ineligible for the Bargaining Unit. Incumbent is subject to call back in the event of emergencies after normal duty hours, on weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to operate a government owned or leased vehicle which requires a valid state driver's license. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a 6 month service agreement will be required.
