About the Role

The Company is in search of an Associate General Counsel with a focus on ERISA and employee benefits to join its legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for serving as the primary legal resource in these areas, providing practical guidance to business stakeholders, and supporting the company's group health and life insurance operations. Key responsibilities include advising on ERISA and employee benefits matters, translating complex legal requirements into business advice, and partnering with various teams on legal and regulatory considerations. While the role may involve some corporate transactions and M&A work, this is not a primary focus, and the ideal candidate will be able to quickly take ownership of ERISA and benefits issues and become a trusted legal partner to the business. Applicants for this role at the company should have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, strong experience in ERISA and employee benefits law, and the ability to independently analyze and provide practical legal advice. The ideal candidate will have a background that includes in-house legal experience within an insurance company, particularly in a group health or life insurance setting. Familiarity with insurance operations, such as policy form preparation, agent contracts, and underwriting, is highly valued. The role requires a professional with strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate with the legal team and business leadership, and a proactive approach to legal support in a regulated insurance environment.
