The Databricks Architect plays a critical role in designing and implementing scalable data architecture solutions within small teams, primarily for government projects. This position balances leading architecture and design efforts with hands-on implementation to optimize data platforms and ensure robust data governance. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the role focuses on integrating cloud technologies and leveraging Databricks and Spark for high-performance data processing, all without travel requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data architecture solutions
- Integrate cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP into data workflows
- Develop and optimize ETL processes for efficient data transformation
- Enhance system performance through proactive tuning and troubleshooting
- Lead solution design initiatives aligned with project and governance standards
- Manage data governance and ensure compliance with policies
- Oversee Databricks platform management and optimization
- Collaborate closely within a small team (1-3) for project success
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the team
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Expertise with Databricks and Apache Spark
- Proficient in cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Strong skills in data modeling and ETL process design
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and Python
- Experience with Big Data technologies
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
