People Advisory Services (PAS) builds and improves organizational and individual performance, delivering a highly complex and challenging mission, especially in an ever-changing working environment. Our PAS Mobility practice provides services to manage the cost and risks involved in HR plans, programs and systems related to a global workforce. We advise the part of business strategy related to people. As a Tax Manager, you'll be providing strategic tax planning recommendations to clients. You'll have the opportunity to work with global clients to address their most complex people’s challenges and ultimately improve and drive sustainable business results.

Step into a pivotal role where you’ll deliver comprehensive tax advisory and compliance solutions, focusing on employee mobility and supporting HR, payroll, and cross-functional teams throughout the assignment life-cycle. You’ll enhance talent mobility in a cost-effective manner, manage cross-border travel, tax, and regulatory challenges for business travelers, and innovate in cross-border remote work to strengthen global workforce strategies.

• Providing guidance on tax reporting and withholding for both home and host countries.

• Assessing individual tax residencies and offering tax briefings for employees.

• Preparing individual tax returns, calculating tax liabilities, and determining tax equalization settlements in accordance with specific policies.

Your key responsibilities

With the Mobility Tax team, you'll join a talented group of professionals that provide individual tax planning, compliance services and advice on tax implications related to the mobility of employees as well as corporate and employment tax planning. Our key capabilities include Mobility Tax Compliance, Income Tax Advisory & calculations, Cross-Border Share based incentive schemes & expatriate compensation and Global and Local Employment Tax Compliance & Advisory.

You will be engaged in complex compliance and advisory work, working with colleagues all over the globe, completing tax returns, reviewing/signing off, writing correspondence, providing authoritative advice/guidance, and review tax cost estimates. Directly engaging our clients is vital, be ready to question and negotiate to provide results.

• Responsible for effective management and delivery of processes, solutions, and/or projects, ensuring quality and risk management.

• Applies depth of expertise to guide others and interprets internal/external issues to recommend quality solutions.

• Meets performance objectives and metrics set locally (client service, quality and risk management, sales and business growth, solution development and teaming).

• Responsible for continuous process improvement and identification of innovative solutions through research, analysis, and best practices.

To qualify for the role you must have

• A bachelor's degree in related field; MST, MAcc or JD/LLM preferred
• 4 – 6 years relevant experience in expatriate tax: Big 4, global management consultancy firm, niche consultancy or in-house role with exposure to large-scale projects
• Mandarin language skills highly desired
• Approved technical certification; US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or active state bar membership
• An understanding of automated tax-processing systems, as well as tax laws
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to confidently communicate and explain complex details to colleagues and clients
• Analytical approach to tax; ability to convert complex data into meaningful strategic insights
• Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment
• Successful delivery of Mobility (Expatriate) Tax projects: technical excellence and practical/business driven approach to solving complex client challenges
• Provide quality US tax returns and overseas tax filings, preparing/reviewing calculations (international tax cost projections, equalization and hypothetical tax)
• Generate revenue through identifying follow-on engagement opportunities and developing lasting relationships with clients; identify potential risks and opportunities to improve processes and acquire new business; contribute to business development and client pursuit activities
• Lead workstreams from planning to implementation ' managing resources and budgets effectively
• Develop understanding expatriate tax issues, trends and tools, and maintaining your reputation as an authoritative professional
• Managing, coaching, and developing junior resources and peers, focusing on their technical and client service skills to develop their career
• Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project, or year.

Ideally, you'll also have

• Experience managing professional employees or supervising others to deliver complex technical initiatives.
• Accountability for performance and results in a client-facing environment.
• Ability to implement resource plans and budgets.
• Experience leading specific RFP responses and managing engagement economics.

• We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job is:
• • New York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices – $132,000 to $220,000
  • Bay Area California offices – $137,500 to $229,100
  • All other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento – $110,000 to $201,700
• Individual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
• Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
