At Shure, innovation is driven by passionate engineers who shape the future of professional audio. We are seeking a Staff Managing Engineer – Fpg And Wireless Systems to lead both our Fpg engineering team and Wireless Lab operations, playing a pivotal role in the development of world-class wireless audio products used by artists, venues, and creators around the globe.
This is a highly visible leadership role that combines technical depth, people management, and system-level influence. You will guide and mentor a team of talented engineers while remaining hands-on - architecting, designing, and validating Fpg-based solutions that power Shure's next generation of wireless technologies. In parallel, you will lead our Wireless Lab team, coordinating validation, DevOps, and lab priorities to ensure robust, high-quality product releases.
The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of engineering excellence and team leadership - someone who enjoys setting technical vision, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and turning complex challenges into elegant solutions. If you're motivated by solving real-world problems, developing people, and seeing your work come to life in globally respected products, this role offers a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact within Shure's renowned Product Development organization.
This position will be hybrid based out of our Niles, Il HQ!
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of Fpg engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Lead wireless lab team. Coordinate wireless lab activities (validation, DevOps) and priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Hardware, Software, and Acoustic teams, to define product requirements, technical specifications, and project deliverables.
• Drive the design and development of Fpg-based systems and circuits, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Awareness of industry trends and vendor offerings.
• Plan and allocate resources effectively to achieve project milestones, while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines.
• Develop and implement designs, including verification and validation.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide feedback to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 7 – 10 years of experience in Fpg or Asic design and development, preferably within the audio or consumer electronics industry.
• Proven experience managing and leading a team of engineers, preferably in Fpg design and circuit design roles.
• Strong expertise in Fpg development using Vhdl or Verilog, including synthesis, place and route, and static timing analysis.
• Solid knowledge of digital signal processing techniques, embedded systems, and digital/analog circuit design principles.
• Experience with Fpg design tools, such as Amd/Xilinx Vivado or Altera Quartus, and familiarity with Fpg development kits.
• Proficiency in using simulation and verification tools, such as ModelSim or Mentor Graphics Questa, to validate designs.
• Experience with Linux, networking and dev ops tools (Jenkins, bitbucket, etc.)
• Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, propose effective solutions, and make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Practical experience with Python.
