Role Description The Senior Accountant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Garden City, NY. This role is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing and reviewing journal entries, and ensuring accurate month-end and year-end closings. The Senior Accountant will perform account reconciliations, analyze financial statements, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and support internal and external audits. Daily tasks include overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes, monitoring cash flows, and maintaining compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies. The role also involves partnering with operations and management to provide financial insights, improve reporting, and support decision-making across the business.

Job Summary:

The Lead Accounting Analyst is responsible for the timely processing and accurate recordkeeping and reporting of all business transactions incurred by the organization. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day general accounting activities and accounts receivable and payable functions, serving multi-entity operations, and maintaining and optimizing customers/vendors and operational relationships; as well as implementing policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, internal control and proper legal compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• General Accounting:
\n
• Support the monthly and year-end closing processes by ensuring timely compliance with the tasks established in the monthly closing checklists.
\n
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and validating transactions.
\n
• Prepare and account for assets, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
\n
• Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
\n
• Maintain the general ledger by preparing trial balances, and reconciling entries with the subsidiary accounts.
\n
• Periodically assist external auditors/reviewers with account analyses and preparation of working papers, as needed.
\n
• AR/AP Functions:
\n
• Coordinate the overall billing and procurement cycle and account for all resulting transactions, including the timely processing of customer/vendors invoices, expense reports, credit memos, intercompany and credit card charges, and payment processing.   
\n
• Resolve collection/payment discrepancies and disputes in a professional manner.
\n
• Ensure proper compliance with company policies and relevant laws and regulations.
\n
• Coordinate the periodic confirmation and proper reconciliation of key customer/vendors’ outstanding balances.
\n
• Monitor the accounts receivable/payable aging reports to identify and adjust unusual items/inaccuracies in a timely manner.
\n
• Analyze accounts receivable/payable activity and develop comprehensive KPI metrics to assist with the financial planning of the operations.

• Process Improvement:
\n
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and adopt best industry practices.
\n
• Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
\n
• Work with the internal control team to streamline financial processes.
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• Education:
\n
• Degree in Accounting, Required. A Professional Accounting Certification (CA, CMA), a plus. 
\n

\n
• Experience:
\n
• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, auditing, compliance, or similar fields.
\n
• Experience in the wholesale, retail or construction industries, a plus.
\n
• Proven track record overseeing operations in a high-volume transactional environment.
\n
• Practical understanding of US GAAPs.
\n

• Proficiency in multi-entity business software. SAP experience, a plus.
\n
• Advanced MS Excel and understanding of integration software and efficiency tools (Power BI, PDI, ADP).
