Registered Nurse (Inpatient Mental Health)

The Registered Nurse (Inpatient Mental Health) is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. The incumbent assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age specific components. They assume responsibility for the coordination of care throughout the continuum of care. Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines;
• Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team;
• Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex care;
• Facilitates shift reports, warm hand-offs, and develops content as well as facilitates nurse-led groups;
• Documents nursing assessments, nursing plan of care, patient safety observations and environmental safety rounds;
• Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures and/or guidelines; and,
• Provides peers with formal and informal constructive feedback for improvement.
