Advanced Practice Provider, Internal Medicine-Geriatrics

Geriatrics Advanced Practice Provider
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a full-time advanced practice provider within the Division of Geriatrics. This position emphasizes high-quality, age-friendly clinical care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of faculty focused on improving health outcomes for older adults and advancing excellence in geriatric education.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive geriatric assessments for hospitalized older adults, including cognition, mood, mobility, function, nutrition, and social support.
- Provide consultative recommendations (in collaboration with geriatric faculty) to primary teams (including hospitalist, surgical, ICU, and subspecialty services)
- Participate in departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Collaborate with geriatricians and all members of interdisciplinary teamsincluding nursing, pharmacy, social work, and rehabilitationfor optimal care of older adults.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) with current license in the State of Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certification or Physician Assistants (PA-C) with Certificates of Added Qualifications in Acute Care
- Experience in providing acute care to geriatric or medically complex populations.
- Experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment
- Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development in geriatric care.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
