Occupational Therapist

The Inpatient Occupational Therapist provides specialized therapeutic care to adult and geriatric patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurosurgical, neurological, cardiovascular, and medically complex conditions in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves evaluating, planning, and implementing individualized occupational therapy treatments to enhance patient recovery and functional independence. The therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and utilizes clinical expertise to address patient needs in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine occupational therapy needs and goals.
• Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient diagnosis and recovery progress.
• Provide therapy interventions to patients post-orthopedic surgery, neurological, cardiovascular, and critical care conditions.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately in the medical record system.
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals, home exercises, and adaptive techniques.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

• Current and valid Ohio Occupational Therapist license and registry (not in process).
• At least 1 year of acute care occupational therapy experience within the past 5 years.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to assess and treat adult and geriatric patients with orthopedic, neurological, cardiovascular, and medically complex conditions.
• Strong clinical reasoning and patient management skills.
• Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Familiarity with orthopedic and joint replacement post-operative care.

• Work environment includes a Level 3 Trauma Center with semi-complex and critical care patients.
• Must be able to provide care to intubated and medically complex patients.
• Compliance with hospital policies and safety protocols is mandatory.

• Daytime schedule, Sunday through Thursday.
• Five 8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Schedule accommodates weekend shift personal requests as able.
