Known for a commitment to quality, a reputation for reliability and outstanding values, Fraser Shipyards is further committed to providing a safe work environment.Day to day as a Safety TechnicianAs a Safety Technician at Fraser Shipyards, you will be an essential member of our safety team, providing critical support on projects and daily work procedures focused on Safety, Health, and Environmental standards. Your role will involve anticipating and evaluating hazardous conditions while implementing safety programs to prevent employee injuries and illnesses. You will assist in monitoring safety compliance, facilitate training sessions, and conduct job hazard analyses at various job sites. Requirements include the ability to climb scaffolds and enter confined spaces, ensuring health and environmental risks are minimized. Collaborating closely with employees and management, you will guide safe practices and participate in incident investigations to enhance workplace safety.Additionally, you'll support customer safety initiatives and maintain compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations. If you're passionate about safety and eager to make a difference, this hands-on position is the perfect opportunity for you!What you need to be successfulTo excel as a Safety Technician at Fraser Shipyards, a range of skills and experiences are essential.Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey safety protocols and collaborate with team members and customersExcellent interpersonal and customer service skills to foster a safety-focused cultureOrganizational skills and attention to detail for managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess hazards and implement effective measuresProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteFamiliarity with OSHA and DOT regulationsHigh school diploma or GED required; degree in safety or industrial health preferredExperience in the maritime or shipyard industry (preferred)Forklift operation experience (a plus)Physical ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces and inclement weatherValid driver's license and ability to drive company vehicles. A background check will be required. While a GED or high school diploma is required, a degree in safety or industrial health is preferred. Experience in the maritime or shipyard industry, along with forklift operation, will provide additional advantages. Candidates must also be physically capable of working in various conditions, including confined spaces and inclement weather.A valid driver's license is required, and the ability to drive company vehicles is necessary. A background check will be required. Additional Knowledge and skills required for the position are:Ability to work the 2nd shift and overtime as required.Ability to perform various physical tasks including grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, and working overhead.Must be comfortable working in confined spaces, such as manholes, and maintaining awkward positions for extended periods.Capable of performing indoor and outdoor work in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Must be able to work in areas that may not be environmentally controlled.Ability to lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.Ability to sit for extended periods, particularly when working at a desk or on a computer.Must have listening and hearing ability as well as visual acuity to safely navigate shipyard environment.This position must be able to drive company vehicles and maintain a current and valid driver's license.Ability to speak effectively in front of large groupsAbility to lead by example and hold employees accountable when not following company safety requirements.May be required to conduct minor maintenance tasks in shipyard facilities, using various hand and power tools.Join us!So, what do you think?
