Electronics Technician I

Position Overview Multi-Craft Electronics Technician, third shift (11pm‑7am) in Prosperity, South Carolina, at Graphic Packaging International. Responsibilities Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments. Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment; complete preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic circuits, conveyor systems, and production machines. Inspect drives, motors, belts, fluids, and filters; perform other maintenance duties with schematics, blueprints, manuals, and engineering specifications. Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical components, pipe systems, plumbing, and machinery. Diagnose machine malfunctions; clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other components. Dismantle machinery using hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools, and forklifts. Plan and layout repair work with diagrams, drawings, blueprints, and schematic diagrams. Operate cutting torches or welding equipment. Perform plant grounds and facilities maintenance for safe operation. Operate Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) and be on call during plant hours for electronic issues. Maintain documentation and communication with hourly operators, maintenance technicians, and salaried employees. Job Functions Repair, replace, or fabricate electronic, electrical, and mechanical components as required. Program PLCs and work with logic and motor control systems. Ensure compliance with maintenance, safety, and operational procedures. Assist with scheduling and performing work orders and preventive maintenance during downtime and weekends. Job Requirements Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics with 1‑2 years of industrial electronics experience (preferred), or HS Diploma with 5‑7 years of experience. Self‑directed learning, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and ability to learn business‑specific computer programs. Certification to operate a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT). Ability to work third shift with potential overtime and weekend work. On‑call availability during plant hours for electronic issues. Physical Requirements Standing >75%, walking >75%, pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs, lifting 50 lbs, frequent climbing, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, elevated work, temperature fluctuation, confined spaces. Benefits & Compensation Starting wage: $39.61 with step level increases; third‑shift premium $1.50.
