About the Role

The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Operational Risk, with a focus on Information Technology Oversight. The successful candidate will be part of the 2nd Line of Defense (2LOD) and will be responsible for independent operational risk oversight of information technology. This includes assessing and monitoring risks related to IT programs, the adoption of emerging technologies, and 3rd party risks specific to the IT function. The role involves engaging with the IT organization to review and assess operational risks in the use of new technologies, monitoring risks accepted by the business, and performing formal assessments of technology risks. The candidate will also be expected to investigate potential risks, monitor cloud computing activities, and contribute to the development of control objectives based on regulatory guidance. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years' of experience in information technology and/or data analytics, preferably in financial services or a banking institution. A strong understanding of operational risks in technology, including software obsolescence and application design for resiliency, is essential. Desired characteristics include familiarity with information security and risk management concepts, experience in IT operations or application support, and a background in financial services regulatory environment. The role requires proven analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in an ambiguous environment. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are also necessary, as is the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and to write formal findings for senior management.
