POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Youth Development Director, the Afterschool Site Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation and overall success of the YMCA's afterschool program at an assigned site. This position provides leadership to program staff, maintains strong partnerships with school personnel and families, and ensures the delivery of safe, engaging, and high-quality youth development programming.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Model the YMCA's mission and core values in all interactions.Oversee the daily operation of the assigned afterschool site, ensuring high-quality programming, participant safety, and compliance with YMCA policies and procedures.Train, supervise, schedule, coach, and evaluate site staff and volunteers.Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and ensure adequate staffing to support daily program operations.Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate educational, recreational, and enrichment activities that support positive youth development and program outcomes.Serve as the primary YMCA contact for school administrators, faculty, families, and community partners, fostering strong collaborative relationships.Promote participant recruitment and enrollment while supporting outreach efforts to ensure program accessibility and sustainability.Monitor program quality, participant engagement, and outcome measures, implementing improvements as needed to meet YMCA and funding requirements.Collect, maintain, and submit required program documentation and outcome data, including attendance, academic indicators, assessments, incident reports, and other required records.Assist with program budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management while maintaining fiscal responsibility.Plan and facilitate family engagement activities, parent communication, and community events that strengthen relationships and connect families to YMCA programs and services.Ensure facilities, equipment, and program spaces remain clean, organized, safe, and well maintained.Support YMCA fundraising initiatives, special events, and other association-wide activities.Perform other duties as assigned.YMCA COMPETENCIES (Leader):Mission Advancement: Accepts and demonstrates the Ys values. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETYThe YMCA of Coastal Carolina is committed to creating environments where children are safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.Employees and volunteers who directly supervise children are expected to:Adhere to YMCA policies regarding professional boundaries with youth.Attend all required Abuse Risk Management and Child Protection trainings.Follow established procedures for supervising children and managing high-risk activities.Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.Comply with all mandated reporting requirements and child protection protocols.Follow all YMCA and Praesidium standards related to child abuse prevention and youth protection.Every employee shares responsibility for protecting the children and families entrusted to our care.QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 18 years of age.Bachelor's degree in education, child development, recreation, human services, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.Minimum of two years of experience in youth development, childcare, education, or a related setting, with leadership experience preferred.Knowledge of child development, behavior management, and quality youth programming.Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners.Experience with program administration, data management, and basic budget oversight preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and program management software.Current CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications, or the ability to obtain required certifications within YMCA-established timeframes.Must successfully complete all required background screenings and comply with YMCA Child Protection Policies and organizational policies.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Work is performed in an active school-based afterschool program with regular indoor and outdoor activities.Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and actively participate in games, recreation, and enrichment activities with children.Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.Maintain continuous visual and auditory supervision of participants and respond quickly to emergencies.Frequently interact with children, families, school personnel, and community partners in a fast-paced environment with moderate to high noise levels.May travel between YMCA locations, schools, meetings, trainings, and community events as needed.Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. #J-18808-Ljbffr
