As a Full-Time Asphalt Paver Operator at J T Russell & Sons, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the paver to meet project specifications and production requirements. Your expertise will help maintain the proper depth, grade, and finished cross-section of asphalt material. You'll collaborate closely with fellow crew members, applying asphalt as instructed and taking on various tasks as needed. Regular checks on equipment functionality and performing preventative maintenance will be essential to ensure safety and optimal operation. You'll also be responsible for cleaning the equipment and executing minor repairs while reporting larger issues to supervisors.

Compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, alongside adherence to company safety procedures and PPE policies, is vital. Your commitment to maintaining a safe work environment will contribute significantly to the overall success of our operations.

To thrive as a Full-Time Asphalt Paver Operator at J T Russell & Sons, candidates must demonstrate extensive experience in asphalt paver operation, particularly on roads, highways, and bridges. A solid understanding of heavy equipment operation and safety standards is essential. Successful applicants will possess the ability to maintain, inspect, and clean equipment, alongside performing minor repairs when necessary. Attention to detail and situational awareness are crucial for ensuring safety on-site.

The job requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 90 pounds, and navigate uneven surfaces in varying weather conditions. Operators must be comfortable working with hazardous substances common in construction. Flexibility regarding work schedules, including nights and travel, is expected, as is the ability to function well in a team and maintain professionalism with coworkers, inspectors, and the public while operating with minimal supervision. Reliable transportation to and from the Conover office is required.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• 3+ years asphalt paver operation experience is required with an emphasis on roads, highways, and bridges.
• Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards and Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair equipment
• Keen attention to detail and situational awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment
• Willing to perform manual labor as needed and directed by supervisor
• Work well with team but work with minimum supervision
• Deals with co-workers, inspectors, customer, and public in a respectful and professional manner
• Reliable transportation to and from the Conover Office; Commercial Driver License Preferred
